Our 2007 / 2008 Season
Illustrations by Hans Saefkow

The Slip-Knot
Starring TJ Dawe
September 20 - October 17

By turns hysterical and heartbreaking, frantic and thoughtful, The Slip-Knot is a spellbinding comedy unlike any other. This is one man's tale of three awful jobs - at Shopper's Drug Mart, at Canada Post, and at a dumpster company. In between are life's invaluable lessons on long distance relationships, Santa Claus and why you should never mail meat.

The Rez Sisters
by Tomson Highway
November 2 - 21

Life among these seven friends and relatives is pretty humdrum on the Wasaychigan Reserve. Fix the roof, feed the kids, run the store, argue with the Chief about the potholes. Then a letter arrives and the seven vow to go after a long shot chance of a lifetime. They are going to find a way - no matter what it takes - to get one weekend in the big city. Why? To get to THE BIGGEST BINGO IN THE WORLD. Grand Prize - HALF A MILLION DOLLARS!!! Getting there is half the fun as this comic quest for the Big Jackpot brings an avalanche of hi-jinks and adventures.

Hockey Mom, Hockey Dad
by Michael Melski
January 31 - Febrary 20

This play is on one long breakaway, scoring all across Canada. Two single parents meet while watching their 8 year olds play minor hockey. Donna is shy and reluctant after a bad break-up. Teddy is boisterous and pushy with a great big heart. Are they ready to face off, throw down the gloves, and take another chance on romance? She's always called for icing; he's always called offside. Through practices, games and the whir of the Zamboni, there's as much action in the stands as on the ice.

"One of the best plays of the year."
- Toronto Star

"Brilliantly comic and touching."
- Halifax Chronicle Herald

"Contains all the ingredients of a cross-Canada hit."
- Now Magazine

The Kitchen Witches
by Caroline Smith
April 17 - May 7

Isobel and Dolly are rival small town celebrities on community access cablevision. The rivalry started 30 years ago when the same man married one and dated the other - even after the ceremony! Now they BOTH want to host a cooking show. The station owner's solution? Make them co-hosts. Dolly's feckless TV producer son is assigned to make this cooking show work come hell or high ratings. And that's exactly what happens! All three go through hell and high ratings and the laugh-o-meter goes right off the scale.

"...explode it does, with hilarious fun...a very funny evening..."
- Kitchen Waterloo Record

"...a hilarious tale."
